Hide caption EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Police said they are investigating the death of Dr. Clive Bridgham, a prominent chiropractor, as a murder.
Chief Christopher Parella said Bridgham, who was 67, was “found murdered in his house,” Thursday night.
Bridgham had a practice in Barrington, but lived at 116 Pleasant St. in East Providence, Parella confirmed. He said police found him dead at home, but declined to provide additional details.
“He was definitely murdered. We know that,” Parella said.
He said the department would likely release more information Saturday.
Bridgham was a past president of the Chiropractic Society of Rhode Island. He was selected by the Rio Olympic Sports Medicine Committee to assist the health services team during the 2016 Rio Olympics.Bridgham voluntarily suspended his license on Sept. 9, said Joseph Wendelken, a spokesman for the Department of Health.This came after Bridgham “began a therapeutic relationship” in spring 2016 with a 19-year-old man.
