FROM fingernail scratches on a dingy hull to a screaming row – the mystery around Natalie Wood’s death has continued to grow for more than 35 years.

Now, police have confirmed that the actress’ husband, Robert Wagner, is a person of interest in her death. Rex Features Robert Wagner has been named as a person of interest in the death of his wife Natalie Wood Wood , known for her high-profile roles in West Side Story, Miracle On 34th Street and Rebel Without A Cause was found dead in the water in 1981 at age 43.

But what actually happened, and how was actor Christopher Walken involved? Who was on the boat?

Academy Award-winning actress Wood and Wagner married in December 1957.

The two began dating when she was 18 and he was 26. They divorced in April 1962 and re-married in 1972.

On November 27, 1981, the couple went sailing on Wood’s family yacht, Splendour. They were joined by the ship’s captain Dennis Davern and her friend, actor Christopher Walken, during the trip off the coast of Catalina Island.
