ANSONIA — Ansonia police are following up on leads from an earlier investigation into a burglary in the city Tuesday where a home health aide was sprayed with Mace or pepper spray.
Around 2:20 p.m., schools in the area of High Acres Road were put on lockdown as police K9s searched the area for two burglary suspects, Lt. Patrick Lynch said.
Police received a complaint of two people that entered a home on High Acres Road, assaulted one of the occupants and stole some items. During the burglary, Lynch said the suspects were wearing masks. They got into the house from a n unlocked door.
When inside, the suspects confronted an 88-year-old woman and a home health aide.
“The home health aide was maced or pepper sprayed during the confrontation but there were no other known weapon used during the burglary and assault,” Lynch said. The home health aide was treated by medics at the scene.
After the suspects grabbed some items from the home, they fled — possibly on foot. Ansonia police put a call in to Seymour police to ask for their help with a possible K9 track. Seymour police K9s Rex and Zoar were brought to the area for a track.While […]
