NORWALK — Three men charged in a Thanksgiving Day home invasion and assault were arraigned Tuesday and had their cases transferred to the Part A docket at Stamford Superior Court, where the most serious cases are tried.
The men, Luke Sweeney, 22; Joseph Ponger, 23; and Michael Maiorano, 25, have been held on $500,000 bond since their arrests Friday on charges of first-degree assault, home invasion and conspiracy.
Judge Bruce Hudock made note of the “seriousness of the allegations,” against the men and the accusations of “substantial violence and injuries,” before ordering their bonds to remain as set.
Details of the alleged assault on a Midwood Road man were released following the arraignment and painted a picture of a vicious attack related to a robbery attempt.
Around 1 p.m. Nov. 23, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a 911 call from the Midwood Road home where it was reported that several people had broken into the residence and had viciously assaulted one of the occupants.
