Stamford man faces domestic abuse charges

STAMFORD — Police say a city man has been arrested for repeatedly abusing his girlfriend.

Stamford Police Sgt. Joseph Kennedy said Jeisson Garcia, 22, was charged with second-degree strangulation, first-degree unlawful restraint, risk of injury to a child, third-degree assault and third-degree criminal mischief.

The charges stem from an unspecified monthlong investigation when Kennedy said police discovered Garcia was regularly abusing his girlfriend.

“We know of at least four specific incidents where Garcia beat our victim going back as far as December or January,” Kennedy said. “From the evidence we’ve collected, there was a constant pattern of domestic violence in the life of the victim.”

At least one of those incidents resulted in injuries to the victim that included severe bruising and contusions, he said.

Kennedy said the investigation remained ongoing and declined to provide further details. kat.russell@stamfordadvocate.com
