Mother of 18-year-old ‘allowed to rot to death before paramedics found him in soiled nappy weighing less than six stone’ tells court he was healthy in the months before he died

The mother of a teenager allegedly left to ‘rot to death’ said he seemed healthy in the months before he died.

Jordan Burling, 18, weighed just over six stone when paramedics found him lying on a filthy inflatable mattress wearing a soiled nappy on June 30, 2016.

He was covered in pressure sores and his body was likened to those of prisoners held in WWII extermination camps. Jurors were told the body of his mother’s full-term newborn baby was also found stuffed into a rucksack at their home in Farnley, West Yorkshire.

Jordan’s mother Dawn Cranston claimed he maintained a ‘stocky build’ as a teenager years but experienced ‘fluctuations in his weight’ in the years before he died.
