The homicide of an 18-year-old who was attending a “Sweet 16” birthday party on the Near East Side remains unsolved, and tips leading to an arrest could net a cash reward.

Tyquan Lackey, 18, was one of over 100 people who were at a party on March 11, 2017, at Vern’s Place, which was located on the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue.

Police say a large fight was taking place around 10:45 p.m. outside the party when gunfire broke out.

Lackey and two 17-year-olds were shot. Lackey did not survive his injuries, dying at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center.

About six weeks after the shooting, police were asking witnesses to come forward. More than 100 people were at the party when the shots rang out, yet none had come forward with information at that time.Anyone with information is asked to call Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS, submit an online tip at www.stopcrime.org or use the free P3 Tips mobile application to provide information.All tips to Crime Stoppers are anonymous.
