Police are investigating a potential homicide after a man was found dead Friday evening at the Pearl Inn in southwest Houston.

First responders were sent to the motel at the corner of Beltway 8 and W Bellfort Avenue around 7 p.m. on reports of an unresponsive person.

The victim, described as a black male in his 40s or 50s, was found with a gunshot wound, said Houston Police Department Homicide Detective Lance Osborn.

Investigators are looking at surveillance footage from the motel. There were no reports of gunfire in the area and the time of death is unconfirmed, Osborn said. No suspect has been identified in the man’s death.
