GHISLAINE Maxwell has won a bid to delay the release of her highly anticipated deposition from a trove of secret documents ordered to be unsealed.
The sworn testimony reportedly contains “embarrassing” details about the British socialite’s sex life ahead of her trial on sex trafficking charges. Maxwell’s deposition comes from a settled defamation case filed against her by Virgina Giuffre Roberts and was expected to be made public on Monday.
But the Second Circuit today granted a motion to postpone the unsealing and an appeal has been scheduled for September 22. Maxwell’s legal team argued in a Manhattan federal court that the press had “all but convicted her”. Prosecutors claim that Maxwell perjured herself in the April 2016 deposition.
Among dozens of filed made public from the 2016 civil case on Thursday were emails and depositions named victims and anonymous women who also claim to have been abused by Maxwell’s ex-lover, late billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
In her testimony from the lawsuit, Giuffre Roberts graphically described being forced into “girl on girl” orgies with Maxwell by a swimming pool and in cabanas at Epstein’s private Caribbean island.
She alleged Maxwell had sex with underage girls “virtually every day” she was around her.
One document read: “The island was a place where orgies were a constant thing that took place”.
“One occasion stands out. Models were – I think they were models – were flown in,” it continued.
“There were orgies held outside by the pool. There was quite a few girls and it was – excuse me, if I’m saying this in an inexplicit way…girl-on-girl action.
“There was a lot of…licking.”
Maxwell, 58, is currently being held in a Brooklyn jailhouse on sex-trafficking charges.
The British publishing heiress was charged by federal prosecutors in early July for allegedly helping recruit, groom and ultimately sexually abuse minors as young as 14 as part of a years-long criminal enterprise with billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. She pleaded not guilty and was ordered jailed pending trial. She is also charged with two counts of perjury.
Earlier this week, Maxwell lost an 11th-hour bid to prevent the release of the “embarrassing” confidential documents.
Another ruling in the case prohibited Maxwell’s attorneys from naming accusers, even if the accusers have spoken out publicly. From the Arkansas Democrat Gazette:
“Not all accusations or public statements are equal,” U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan wrote in her ruling in the case facing Ghislaine Maxwell.
“Deciding to participate in or contribute to a criminal investigation or prosecution is a far different matter than simply making a public statement ‘relating to’ Ms. Maxwell or Jeffrey Epstein, particularly since such a statement might have occurred decades ago and have no relevance to the charges in this case.”
She said the women “still maintain a significant privacy interest that must be safeguarded.”
Prosecutors had asked Nathan to block Maxwell’s lawyers from publicly identifying the women unless they identified themselves as participants in the criminal case. Otherwise, prosecutors said, the women may be harassed or intimidated and become reluctant to cooperate with the government.
Nathan’s order came hours after newly unsealed court documents provided a fresh glimpse into a civil court fight between Maxwell, who was Epstein’s former girlfriend, and one of the women who accused the couple of sexual abuse.
The documents released late Thursday were from a now-settled defamation lawsuit filed by one of Epstein’s reported victims, Virginia Roberts Giuffre.
The Sun cites some of the released documents to place former US President Bill Clinton on Epstein’s infamous Pedophile Island.
BILL CLINTON stayed in his own private villa at paedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s island after jetting in with the billionaire and two young girls, bombshell court documents claim.
Ms Giuffre claims she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew and other powerful men when she was underage.
In the unsealed legal documents, she allegedly claims Mr Clinton was a guest at Epstein’s private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Epstein joked about Mr Clinton being in his pocket, she allegedly claimed.
The Daily Beast reports Ms Giuffre told the lawyer: “I remember asking Jeffrey what’s Bill Clinton doing here [on the island].”
According to a transcript of the conversation, Ms Giuffre said Epstein laughed and said: “Well, he owes me a favour.”
“He never told me what favours they were,” Giuffre said.
“I never knew. I didn’t know if he was serious. It was just a joke.”
Ms Giuffre allegedly said Maxwell, a woman named Emmy (believed to be Maxwell’s former assistant Emmy Tayler), and two “young girls” from New York were also on the island.
Clinton and the other visitors stayed in villas away from the main house, she added.
Giuffre does not implicate former US president Mr Clinton in any wrongdoing, but said orgies were routine on the island.
The British socialite’s arrest comes almost a year after Epstein was arrested and then killed himself in prison in mysterious circumstances.
Maxwell, 58, was arrested last month on charges of conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors.
Finally, The Daily Mail alleges that Epstein’s actions were part of a massive blackmail operation, and that disgraced Prince Andrew was a target.
Jeffrey Epstein allegedly forced then-underage Virginia Roberts Giuffre to have sex with Prince Andrew in order to gather incriminating evidence so he could blackmail the British Royal, according to court documents.
Court papers released in New York on Thursday allege Epstein trafficked underage girls to the Prince as well as other powerful and well-connected figures.
Roberts, who is referred to in court papers as Jane Doe #3, was ‘forced’ to have sexual relations with the Duke of York ‘when she was a minor’ in Ghislaine Maxwell‘s apartment in London, in New York and on Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands.
It comes as a Royal insider this morning dismissed claims the Prince ‘lobbied the US government to help get a sweetheart plea-deal for Epstein’.
Andrew’s unnamed friend described the allegation as ‘a straight forward untruth, no ifs, no buts,’ adding the US federal appeals court last year said the claim should be treated with ‘extreme caution’.
The court papers say Epstein told Roberts ‘she was to give the Prince whatever he demanded and required [her] to report back to him on the details of the sexual abuse’.
Maxwell, Epstein’s alleged madam, is said to have ‘facilitated Prince Andrew’s acts of sexual abuse.’ She has denied all allegations against her.
Epstein, the billionaire pedophile, was alleged to have sexually trafficked Roberts and others to powerful figures in order to ‘ingratiate himself with them for business, personal, political and financial gain, as well as to obtain potential blackmail information,’ court papers state.
These individuals include ‘numerous prominent American politicians, powerful business executives, foreign presidents, a well-known prime minister, and other world leaders.’
The newly unsealed court papers contain several bombshell claims, including one in which Andrew ‘lobbied the US government to help get a sweetheart plea-deal for Epstein‘ that saw him jailed for just 18 months in 2008.
