Facebook PERTH AMBOY, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a New Jersey man was arrested after an exchange of gunfire with police officers in which no one was injured.
The Middlesex County prosecutor’s office says police in Perth Amboy were trying to arrest a 21-year-old suspect Thursday night in a shooting earlier in the day.
Perth Amboy police reported that as four city detectives approached, the suspect opened fire. Officers exited the vehicle and identified themselves as police officers, and some returned fire. No one was struck in the exchange of gunfire.
The prosecutor’s office says 21-year-old Isaiah Peralta is charged with four counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, firearms and drug charges as well as charges in the earlier shooting.
It’s unclear whether Peralta has an attorney; a listed number for him couldn’t be found Saturday.

It’s not like there’s any ill intent. This is one of the oldest tricks in the documentary-maker’s book — you show a famous landmark to establish where you are, such as the Eiffel Tower for Paris, the Colosseum for Rome or the Gateway Arch for St. Louis. (Chris Detrick | Tribune file photo) Temple Square is pictured during the 186th LDS General Conference in Salt Lake City in 2016. This is purely anecdotal, but in my experience there are plenty of people who think that the LDS Church still practices polygamy. Throughout the run of the HBO series “Big Love,” I heard from a lot of people who thought the characters in that series were both polygamists and Mormons, despite the fact that […]
(Amanda Lopez | The Washington Post) Tasha Reign is chairwoman of the Adult Performer Advocacy Committee, which is trying to create more guidelines for what’s acceptable in an industry rocked by sexual assault scandals and the recent deaths of five performers. The display is a tolerated tradition that goes back decades. But this year a few things were different at the AVN Awards, held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas.
Ron Jeremy, one of the biggest names in the industry to be accused of sexual assault, was banned from the proceedings. So the usual assortment of post-party photos featuring his hands placed as human lingerie — he has called himself "a groper" — was absent. Although the trade show’s zero-tolerance policy on harassment landed last year — long before recent sexual harassment scandals rocked Hollywood — this year it required participants to sign the policy, a clear response to the #MeToo movement . Moves like this have some in the industry peacocking, especially as crosstown rival Hollywood has been hammered over its lack of gender equality. "If you look at the recent AVN nominations for director of the year, nearly half of the names were women," says […]
SAN FRANCISCO — New misconduct allegations have been leveled against California Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia — the high-profile #MeToo movement activist under investigation herself for alleged sexual harassment — including a claim that Garcia urged staffers to play “spin the bottle” after a political fundraiser.
David John Kernick has filed a formal complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing claiming he was dismissed from his job in Garcia’s district office for questioning the propriety of asking staffers to play the game.
Kernick, 38, who worked for the assemblywoman for five months in 2014, described to POLITICO an evening of heavy drinking in which Garcia ended up sitting on a hotel room floor with about half-dozen people — including her staffers and at least one male friend — and prompted them to play a game that results in participants kissing each other.
“It was definitely uncomfortable,’’ said Kernick, adding that the assemblywoman’s suggestion was met with discomfort and then ignored. “But I realized it’s different for a man than for a woman….you know it’s inappropriate, but at the same time you may wonder, ‘how many women do you work for that act like that?’ You think…’maybe she’s just really cool.’’’

IT was the hardest letter that Pauline Murrell would ever write.
She was asking France’s Myra Hindley for the truth about how her daughter was murdered. PA:Press Association Joanna Parrish was murdered in 1990 in Burgundy in eastern France Twenty years earlier, a fisherman had found the battered and naked body of Pauline’s daughter, British student Jo Parrish, in a river 100 miles south of Paris .
Local investigators were convinced that language student Jo had been lured and then murdered by a depraved husband and wife, dubbed the French Hindley and Brady, who were jailed for life a decade ago.
Just like Myra Hindley and Ian Brady in the Sixties in Manchester, SHE hunted down young victims for HIM to rape and kill.
But French detectives had lost key DNA evidence against Monique Olivier and Michel Fourniret, and without a confession the evil pair could not be brought to justice for Jo’s killing. Getty Jo’s parents, who split up around the time of Jo’s death, feared they would never learn the truth So, in a three-page letter, Pauline pleaded to evil Olivier — a mother with three children of her own — to reveal what happened to Jo in 1990.
Despite her anguish […]
